I completed a 30-day Disney challenge on Tumblr and challenged myself by answering the prompts with speedpaints. These were quickies that took anywhere between 20 minutes and 2 hours to finish. Since our account here has been pretty inactive, I'm uploading (and cleaning up) some of my favorites.
This 30-minute speedpaint is my answer to prompt 25, a movie that makes you cry. My answer is UP.
Although it didn’t literally make me cry, it certainly elicits more emotions than most Diz or Pixar movies. Within the first ten minutes, UP tells the story of a couple. Using little dialogue and only visuals, it narrates a short story of how Ellie and Carl met, how they fell in love, their devastation over their inability to have kids, their growing old together, and finally, Carl confronting Ellie’s inevitable passing away. The opening sequence is frank and honest about our own human mortality, and despite how we may find the person with whom we grow old together, eventually death will separate us. If UP didn’t make you cry or at least give you the feels, you are either lying or not human.

(Hmmm I thought I commented on these? I guess I didn't, OH maybe I did over on Tumblr and that's what I'm thinking of!)
This was such an awesome movie! I had my doubts about it when the film was first released but I should have known that Disney/Pixar wouldn't let us down!
Even if this is just a speed paint you did an awesome job with it! The detail on the waterfall is so lovely. I love how you can see the mist from the water rising up!
And of course the house itself! So much symbolism in one small house for Carl. I love how as the movie went on the house slowly began to fall apart (not literally) and he realized that the house really was just a house and that he had all his memories with Ellie forever ;;.
