Yet another speedpaint. The Genie photobombs an otherwise iconic love scene :)

I usually don't mind a little irreverence, so normally I would like Genie photo-bombing Aladdin and Jasmine's romantic scene--in your painting he looks just a tad smarmy and though he is large he's not overly intrusive as he is in the movie, when he laughs as the moon, sort of giving him a godlike role in the movie which seems a little unsettling. I know he's supposed to be a larger-than-life figure, but in the movie the Genie comes off more as chess-master which rubs me the wrong way--or maybe it's because I'm such a fan of Jafar that I'm predisposed to be extra critical of Genie. ^^;; Anyway--

Another masterpiece you've created here--I especially love the palace and the glowing lights from the palace. : D It makes it look like a warm, inviting place. : D I love the clouds--I LOVE the clouds--so vibrantly purple and blue and the reddish tint at the bottom, and that moon---so lovely and large, I like smiling Genie in front of and next to the moon. Aladdin and Jasmine are beautifully lighted by the moon, gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Another fantastic piece by you! ^____^

Genie was quite smarmy and intrusive in the movie, wasn't he? I understand Disney's intention to emphasize Genie's role may have been to augment that appeal to kids and tell the older audience members that a well-known celebrity was playing a main character (despite the circumstances surrounding that agreement between Disney and Robin Williams, of course XD). In my opinion Jafar definitely assumed a chessmaster role, but once you really think about it, the reason why Genie was so generous toward Aladdin could very well be to stay on Aladdin's good side so he would fulfill his promise. Aladdin had already tricked Genie into escaping the Cave of Wonders without using up one of his wishes, so he had better stay on Aladdin's good side. XD

And THANK YOU for you awesome comments as always!!! Places always seem warmer and more inviting when they contain red and yellow lighting while juxtaposed against a cooler background. I adore paintings and photographs that utilize that effect. :D Clouds are also some of my favorite things to draw, and if there's any opportunity to include them in the background, you bet I'll jump on it ;)

Aladdin is still, and always will be my all-time favorite Disney movie. (the sequels were...more 'meh' to me ^^; ). You made this scene oh-so-pretty with the speedpaint! I love the fluffy looking clouds and the twinkling of the stars!
... and...you know, even after all these years (and maybe it's just me, and probably is) I still don't get why Genie says "Made you look" at the end of the movie. ^^; ...the timing on it, just seems...off(?) I don't know.

I am definitely in agreement with that statement and have the very unpopular opinion of enjoying both sequels! :XD: I am probably the only person on this planet who actually enjoyed Return of Jafar despite the crappy made-for-TV animation and highly disturbing death scene LOL

I never understood why that was suddenly placed at the end, either, to be honest! There was one alternate ending they showed in the DVD extras (I think?) where the merchant from the beginning turned out to be Genie in disguise (and it makes so much sense-- same voice actor, same color scheme, four fingers). That would have been the best ending for the movie, in my opinion anyway :P
