SL - Portrait of a Senator

Description

Once again, this description is incredibly outdated-- everyone needs new backstories

The last of the portrait series thus far. This is Phillip Levasseur d'Ansleville, born 3 April 1695 to Phillip Levasseur d'Ansleville (senior) and his wife Serena.

He was schooled under Marek Thibault, who doubled as his wife's lover and revolutionary. He studied law at university and became a senator.

Phillip is highly urbane and erudite, and his education in government and business has given him a high intellectual edge above most in his age demographic. However, he comes off as a pompous jackass to most people, and his pedantic speech dissuades others from trying to converse with him. However, such pedantic prestidigitation has given him the upper hand in debates and negotiations, and his verbal abuse (albeit rare) can be quite scathing. His photographic memory also gives him the opportunity for blackmailing people he dislikes, so be cautious in what you reveal to him. However, in hand-to-hand combat, Phil is powerless; his desk job and lean, spindly figure give him no strength, and he knows little to nothing about firearms.

However, Phil is virtually harmless and rarely dislikes people. Those who know him say that he is a genuinely personable man who is not gifted in the art of socialising, but his heart is in the right place. In fact, once people earn his trust and friendship, he, too, will go to the ends of the earth for them. He is a man of his word; he always tells the truth and fulfills his promises. He has harboured feelings for a certain woman for three years but has yet to figure out how to tell her.

Like Stephen, Phillip has similar fears of abandonment due to few people to whom he is truly attached. He is married to his work and believes that success is the key to happiness, thus coming off to many people as a workaholic. He enjoys coffee but dislikes the raucous environment of coffeehouses, especially with philosophical debates abound. He was taught by Marek to resent his biological father which is quite unfortunate since he is the spitting image of his father and has the chin to prove it. Do not under any circumstances mention the cleft in his chin lest he casually reveal to your wife that sordid affair you had with that barmaid.

He also has hay fevers and is allergic to fish.

He was based off of David Hyde Pierce and his characters, particularly Niles Crane. ;)

This is one of the most technically accomplished pieces I've seen by you. The subtle ranges of tones is perfect, particularly in the folds of the cravat and his skin. It has such a cohesive feel. The small cues in his facial expression give him a very solid, but not overblown air of an analytical mind at work, perhaps with some anxiety, perhaps just determination. I love the soft look of how you paint hair, all your characters look like they condition thoroughly :D It's beautiful.
